While Quartz is the most common mineral on Earth and is found in nearly every geological environment, it is also the most diverse in terms of variety and color. Tourmalinated and Rutilated Quartz gemstones are strikingly unique amongst the quartz varieties, and that is because of their magical composition of inclusions.
For these striking linear crystals to form inside the quartz, a set of perfect conditions was needed up to 400 to 500 million years ago. The chemicals that make up the quartz, as well as tourmaline and rutile minerals, respectively, came together as liquids. As they cooled and hardened over the course of thousands of years, the minerals separated causing stunning patterns of crystal needles to form inside the larger quartz crystals. When cut and polished, each gemstone boasts an artful array of dynamically strewn mineral strands that are entirely unique to each gemstone.
